2012 Dennis Staral

I started practicing Judo in July 1965, at the Milwaukee YMCA, instructed by Neil Rosenberg. Since I attended Marquette University (MU) at that time, I transferred to MU’s Judo Club in September 1965, and was there until 1976. I knew Ron Kazel, MU’s Instructor, from MATC where we attended classes a few years earlier. We started the UWM Kodokan Judo Klub in 1969, which continued until 1991. At MU and UWM, we also initiated and taught Judo as an Accredited Class. In 1993, I started the Accredited Judo Program at Cardinal Stritch University. I enjoy participating and giving of my time and effort to the Art and Sport of Judo as an Instructor, Mentor, Referee, and Student.
